Since an accident on December 21, 2007 a dramatic story of courage, determination and the power of love, has been unfolding before the family, friends, coworkers and acquaintances of Ben Hayes. A Lewiston resident who grew up in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School and earned a degree from the University of Maine in Orono, Ben married his college sweetheart Erin Tebbetts in October 2005 and became a father to their first child in July 2007. Ben worked for many years at the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council and currently works in the real estate department at Hannaford.   

Ben’s story has touched many hearts, including those of the Ben Hayes Support Fund Committee – a group of Ben’s family, close friends and business associates who have come together to help support the Hayes/Tebbetts family throughout Ben’s recovery from spinal cord injuries. The group is committed to enhancing the quality of Ben’s life by coordinating fundraising efforts, disbursing funds when needed and providing emotional support.
